I am currently in my 4th Year at the University of Windsor completing a Bachelor of Commerce Honors Program. I have a concentration in accounting and am fulfilling the requirements to become a Chartered Accountant.
I am currently working as a member of the Naval Reserve. I have been employed with the department of national defense for 6 years and have achieved a rank equivalent to midlevel management. I am trained as a Marine Engineer however I have also worked in numerous positions within the organization. I have acted as engineering departmental manager, an in unit training coordinator and employment councilor, as well as an instructor. As departmental manager I was responsible for overseeing all training activities, organizing personnel, taking care of all required administrative duties, and writing quarterly and annual personnel evaluation reports. Acting as a training coordinator involved liaising between the naval reserves head quarters and HMCS Hunter in order to facilitate and oversee all training taking place within our local unit. I was also responsible for confirming employment availability and coordinating personnel within the unit with their career managers at the Naval Reserve Head Quarters in order to ensure the deliverance and completion of employment contracts. Within the engineering trade I have acted as an instructor, teaching new members the in house portion of engineering theory, developing lesson plans and invigilating exams. All of this experience has allowed me to develop managerial skills as well as develop leadership skills and teamwork skills. In 2008 I completed the Primary Leadership Qualifications course which was an intensive two month program that focused on teaching leadership, instruction and managerial techniques. The fact that I have sailed with the military on both coasts has exposed me to different cultures and allowed me to work with numerous different people in many different environments.
I believe that this experience will allow me to quickly adapt to new situations and work well with people from all types of backgrounds. I hope that this experience will benefit me in excelling within the CBAR program. I also hope that working with CBAR will allow me to further develop my skills and contribute to the continuing success the program has already achieved.
