I am a fourth year Bachelor of Commerce (Honours Business Administration) Co-op student with a concentration in Finance. I have a taken a wide range of courses, including some advanced Accounting and Management Science, which have complemented my Finance concentration. I have been able to nurture my computer skills by completing my minor in Applied Information Technology. I was the Teaching Assistant, this past semester, for the third year Corporate Intermediate Finance course which combines Finance with real world Excel based problems. In my final semester I will be the Teaching Assistant for the third year Pension Management & Design course.
I am enrolled in the Co-op program where I have had three successful work terms. I had two back to back work terms at MAHLE Filter Systems Canada, ULC. working as a Purchasing Intern. I was then promoted Purchasing Assistant where I worked part-time while attending the University of Windsor. I was able to learn the art of building rapport and successful business relationships. I gained valuable experience and knowledge of Excel and various other programs such as SAP R3. My last placement was at Nemak’s Essex Aluminum Plant where I was able to develop my skills with SAP, Access and Excel, by creating dynamic forms utilizing these programs.
I am a member of the Essex-Kent Junior Farmers Club where I am currently Treasurer, a position which I have held for 3 years, and last year I was President of the club. This is an excellent club to learn about social networking, as well as being able to travel and explore Ontario. I have also represented the Essex County Plowman’s Association as the Queen of the Furrow at the International Plowing Match for two years, where I participated in public speaking activities.
My goals for the Centre for Business Advancement and Research Course are to explore and further develop my skills. I also wish to broaden my horizons by learning the practical application to the theory basis of many finance courses. I am interested in exploring the various career and educational opportunities, and perhaps may obtain an MBA, Accounting or Finance designation.
