As a fourth year Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Business Administration Co-op student concentrating in Labour and Management Relations, I have gained a wealth of knowledge. My studies have ranged from Labour Legislation, Compensation, Health and Safety as well as Employee Engagement. I am working to complete my academic requirements for my Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, and am currently a student member of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Windsor and Essex (HRPAW). While obtaining my BCOMM, I have also completed the academic requirements to obtain a Certificate in Labour Studies.
University involvement is also important to me as I am currently the President of the Human Resources Association student group at the Odette School of Business. Re-launching this group we have provided resume and cover letter clinics for all Odette students as well we plan to hold a monthly Student Speaker Series beginning in Fall 2009. I have also acted as an accounting tutor to first year students and have sat on the University of Windsor Co-op Committee as the Undergraduate Business Student Representative. My goals and personal passion are to help others in reaching their full potential by providing them with the tools needed for success in their respective areas of concentration.
As a member of the Co-op program I have had three very successful and enjoyable Co-op terms. First, working at Windsor Family Credit Union headquarters I was able to gain hands on banking experience as a Call Centre Consultant. I also was a Human Resources Assistant where I developed a training manual for the Call Centre as well as conducted telephone interviews to candidates. My second placement was as a Human Resources Intern at Chrysler Financial Canada headquarters. This position allowed me to develop and implement an organization wide Health and Safety Program meeting the legislative requirements of Ontario, Quebec and Alberta. I also assisted in the development and revamping of several company policies including Progressive Discipline, Exit Interview Process, and New Hire Packages. I am most proud of my accomplishment of working with other departments to launch the first ever Women’s Breakfast Series giving all women of the company an opportunity for growth and development. My final placement was a Sales and Marketing Intern at Chrysler Financial Canada where I developed my creative skills by producing Auction Schedules for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealers throughout Canada.
My educational career and work experiences have provided me with the opportunity to gain strong problem solving, customer service and team work skills. I look forward to contributing these skills to CBAR and further developing myself throughout the term.
