Mr. Clare E. Winterbottom, the founder of Anchor Lamina, purchased the company in 1975. Anchor Lamina has produced consistent growth with revenues increasing from $450,000 in 1975 to over $190 million in the 1998 fiscal year.
He served as Chief Executive Officer of Anchor Lamina from February 1988 until December 1998. The years 1994-1999 were a significant building period for the company. Nearly $90 million was spent on capital expenditures for new plants and modern equipment and $45 million on selected acquisitions to expand capacity and extend the company's product line and geographic reach.
He has continued to be a significant shareholder and Honorary Chair of the Board and Director of Anchor Lamina. This appointment completes a transition period that commenced when Anchor Lamina was acquired in August 1997 by a Harrowston-led Group. Anchor is the dominant die set manufacturer in Canada and strong in the Detroit and Grand Rapids, Michigan and Northeast markets.
The company's manufacturing facilities are state-of-the-art, are highly efficient, and have significantly expanded capacity to respond to continuing growth. More information can be found at the company’s website
Mr. Winterbottom recently released a new book profiling his entrepreneurial experiences (available at htp://www.madeinwindsor.com)
