My name is Jerry Lemay, and I am completing my final semester at the University of Windsor in the Business Administration program. Upon completion of my Bachelor of Commerce degree, I have intentions to start working full-time in my family’s manufacturing business and applying the skills and knowledge that I have developed at the Odette School of Business. To date, I have had the opportunity to work for Caesars Windsor in the Hotel Finance department as a Staff Accountant. In this position I was able to learn about the hotel and gaming industries as well as familiarize myself with certain daily operational activities. I have developed a number of spreadsheets for use in various audits, and have helped improve the efficiency and effectiveness of audits. I have also spent considerable time working in my family business. During my time in the family business, I have been able to learn much regarding the operations of a business, particular to manufacturing, and how strategic decisions are made. I have also had the opportunity to take on certain leadership positions. Additionally, I have worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Odette School of Business. I also volunteer as a Student Ambassador for the business school and help out at various events. I have just recently taken on a role as a Mentor for the Odette Commerce Society’s Student Houses. In this position, I am helping new first year business students make their transition to university life as well as building school spirit and encouraging participation amongst first year business students. I am looking forward to my final semester and all that I will learn to help me succeed in my future endeavors.
