My name is Denver Poole, and I am currently a fourth year student in the Bachelor of Commerce program (BCOMM) from the University of Windsor. I have also completed a three year Business Administration Co-op Diploma from Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario. I am currently working towards a specialization in finance at the University of Windsor and have plans to explore different MBA opportunities in the near future.

Over the years, my professional experience has included an internship with the Windsor & Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce. Duties included the planning and implementation of its 1st annual Windsor Essex Energy Fair. Also, I have worked for Barrie City Hall in the Department of Economic Strategy & Development. This department is responsible for increasing local economic growth and competitiveness. The project that I was involved with was called the “Barrie Business Retention & Expansion Project”. The economic impacts from 9 different BR+E projects in Ontario include:

• 1090 jobs saved & 100 new jobs created
• $45 million in wages & salaries
• + 600 jobs projected to be saved in future

I am also a member of the Odette Trading Club. The club covers the basics of stock trading, market analysis and stock evaluation, how to go about trading stock, evaluate stocks and how to spot stocks that are either in trouble or are positioned for investment.

Business consulting has been an interest of mine and I believe CBAR will give me a good grasp on the duties and responsibilities of a business consultant. I hope my skills and interest in the program will be able to contribute to the CBAR team and also largely to the Windsor business community.
